I think I'll run a 5K today.

I mentioned in a previous post that I was thinking about running a 5K on September 8th.

It was $25 and it was to benefit two 5-year-old local twins with cerebral palsy to go towards their therapy.

I love when a 5K is to benefit something so deserving, but I hate that I'm kind of short on money all the time this month due to a first birthday party coming up.
So, my stellar sister-in-law "sponsored" me in this run.
She gave me the money Friday morning and I told her since we were in the throes of sleep training I didn't know if I would actually run, but I would definitely walk down to the event (it was seriously happening not even 5 minutes walking from our house) and give them that money.

Well last night, while listening to my little man cry, I decided, I don't care how tired I am, I'm getting up and running that 5K. I've known about it for awhile and wanted to do it the second I heard about it. Plus, all cheese aside, I wanted to do it to be an example and inspiration to my son. Not to mention for myself and my accomplishments, and OF COURSE for those sweet 5-year-olds.

My hubs said he'd go down there to watch.
However, he was the reason I was slightly late.
Since I hadn't pre-registered, I had to register (#77, what what?!?) when we got there.
As I was pinning on my race number, the crowd of 5Kers were disappearing down the rails to trail. (our course)
I started about 1-2 minutes after everyone else.
I wasn't concerned about winning, so that was alright.

I finished in 34.17.
Factor in the 1-2 minute delay.
And at 32.30, I'll take it!

I definitely missed running with my little man, but it was nice to have both my men there, waiting for me at the finish line!
